Welcome to Gunther's home page!  Throughout the 2008 Presidential Campaign, Gunther has made numerous predictions, and will offer thoughts in September before the primaries (now available), in October (after the primaries), and the weekend before the election (with key battleground state predictions).  Check back regularly for updates.

Note that Gunther has done a GREAT job at predicting winners so far.  Throughout the primary season, Gunther was correct in 11 of 18 predictions.  For example, he was 100% correct in Iowa....yet only partially correct in his NH, MI, NV, SC and FL predictions (often failing to predict clearly the winner of the Republican contests).  In all cases, unpredictable Republican races and bad weather threw Gunther off. 

Gunther also had an off week with the Super Bowl.  Trying his paw at something new, he was unable to correctly call the contest...but hey, other animal prognosticators were just as wrong (most notably Armani the Monkey)!

On Super Tuesday, Gunther returned to political predictions.  In many respects, the cloudy Democratic race was reflected in Gunther's inability to make a decision (he hemmed and hawed all week!).  The Republican race was easier for him to call...ironically.

In Ohio, Gunther's prediction was spot on correct.  But for Texas, he delivered a muddled prediction...BUT, he turned out to be right!  Clinton won the primary, but Obama won the caucus.  Gunther is proving to be more prophetic than anyone anticipated.

Finally, Gunther made a prediction for Puerto Rico, but it was a quick one, reflecting Gunther's fatigue with the long election season.

Some accuse him of being a poll watcher...others say his choices are misinterpreted.  Some even say he might be a social conservative given his love of Huckabee during the primaries.  None the less, compared to pollsters, Gunther may be doing better!  Some have even asked if he could start making lottery picks, choosing the winner of the Super Bowl (bad idea), and various other things (like the gender of unborn children).  We'll see.
